A Brief, Incomplete History of Replacement Level

Baseball Prospectus was kind enough to run a meta-sabermetric history piece written by me on the history of replacement level in sabermetric analysis. As you can imagine, it's not a topic that has generated a lot of responses, but the one person who has commented on the article so far seems to like it, and perhaps you will too.

  1. I enjoyed it a lot! I only have a "free" account, so I can't comment at BP, but it was very informative. It was a good history. What I would really like to know is why VORP became the whipping-boy it did (as you mention this in your article). It's a strange thing. But anyway, yeah. Good article.

  2. I also liked it, but I always hesitate to say so in the comment section because I think it's weird. Here I am free to be me!
